| Autumn rambles in the Derbyshire Dales
1 – 6 November
An autumn break in the Derbyshire Dales : sheep-country, amongst rivers, hills and history. We’re in the Peak District National Park, the first designated NP in the country; it’s a place of peace and refreshment for many northern city-dwellers, but in mid-week early November we’ll have the place virtually to ourselves. Though not with as much daylight as in summer, we’ll still have plenty of time for relaxed walking – and the certainty of a log fire in the evenings.
Walks - on our doorstep lie Dovedale, the Manifold Valley, Lathkill Dale and Curbar Edge amongst many others. There are also the option of a few short climbs such as Thorpe Cloud in Dovedale. We may even reach the Roaches (nearby Staffordshire) and possible Eyam. All is negotiable on this break, which is for you to relax and ‘be’ as you feel is right.
Accommodation – in two attached, self-catering, cosy and well-appointed barn conversions near Alsop-en-le-Dale, N of Ashbourne. Twin and double rooms.
Getting there - pick-up at Derby rail station. From then on we’ll travel by our own minibus.
Cost - £320
Leader – Paul Heppleston and Tina Barton (01629 540969)
